As the world goes through this pandemic together, Clovers is committed to continuing to fulfill our mission of the last 55 years here in Columbia: to provide our community with healthy, nutritious, and consciously-produced foods, supplements and more. But clearly things have changed, and while the mission stays the same, how we execute it suddenly looks incredibly different. We are absolutely committed to cleanliness and sanitization and keeping our staff healthy and safe, and therefore you healthy and safe.
Below are some questions that we’ve been asked, as well as some transparencies we would like to put forth. Thank you for your continuing trust in our stores!
What are your cleaning methods in the store?
We are following the CDC guidelines for cleaning and disinfecting. A bleach solution is sprayed on all surfaces that are used throughout the day, including all store carts and shopping carts, conveyor belts, prep tables (we are currently NOT prepping any food at this time), door handles, phones, desks, computer keyboards and mouses, in addition to our regular store cleaning policies. This process is repeated throughout the day, and again at close. At no time is the bleach solution sprayed on or near any products that we sell.
How are you keeping your employees protected?
The first step to protect our employees was to close our two stores to customers. This was not a decision taken lightly, but to continue to operate without endangering our employees and their families, we realized that it was the best move.
Upon entering the store, employees must immediately wash their hands (even before clocking in) and disinfect their phone with wipes. Vinyl gloves are used at all times, and changed when needed. Hand sanitizer is at all stations. Our employees are following the CDC instructions to remain 6 feet apart; we’ve redesigned some parts of our stores and our workflow to make that happen. We are also rolling out a new schedule that will involve small teams that only work together and don’t have any contact with the other teams, to reduce risk. Our employees are holding each other accountable, knowing that one person not staying home, one person not taking this virus seriously, could drastically affect their coworkers (and let’s face it, very good friends).
At curbside pickup, we ask that you please stay in your car and pop the trunk when your groceries are delivered, for your protection and ours. That said, it’s been nice to briefly chat with many of you from a safe distance! We miss you all coming into the store! Let’s all be safe so this virus dies out as soon as possible.
How do I place an order?
The best way is to order on our website! While we’d love to chat with you on the phone (we do miss that!), this new system has only five or six employees grocery shopping for 100+ families per day. The less time on the phone, the more time we have to pick orders and hopefully get home to our families before they go to bed!
From our website, choose which store you’d like to pick up your order. From there, you will see many departments to choose from and an order form. When you click on a department, it will open up an image gallery of our products in a new tab or window. Return to the original page with the form to fill out your order. Hit send, and you’re all done! If you entered your email address, you will get a confirmation that your order has been received.
At this point, your order has reached our email. There is most likely 20-40 orders ahead of you at any given moment. We will absolutely get to your order! It may be the same day, it might be the following day. So far no orders have taken longer than 24 hours to process. (Some of us work until the wee hours of the morning to make sure of that)! When your order is picked and ready to go, we will call you and let you know if we were out of anything, made any substitutions, etc. Then we will take your credit card number over the phone and enter it directly into our encrypted pin pad (we do not save your card numbers).
Then, you can just come on down to the store for your pickup! Please stay in your car, call the number posted outside of the front door, pop your trunk, and we will bring your groceries out to you.
We really appreciate your orders, keep em coming!
